Most people want to be in really good shape for whatever task or activity they’re involved in, whether it’s a new project, a physically demanding task, or a marathon. What about leadership? What sort of shape are you in to take on the leadership responsibilities you’ve signed up for, or that have been thrust upon you? This session is designed to help you take stock of your current “leadershape”, and to map out the route you need to take to get to the shape you want to be in.

Spice up your meetings with Icebreaker games
Making a Difference in the World
Preparation & Communication: Thinking Outside the Box
Room
Natchez/New Orleans
Memphis
Salon C
Description What do you do if a speaker cancels? How do you welcome a new member into your Club? Believe it or not, both of these questions have the same answer: Play an Icebreaker Game! Participants will learn and play Icebreaker Games that can be used in your Club meetings A panel of Toastmaster members who are immigrants to the US will tell how their membership in TM has helped them acclimate in a new country and in the workplace. As we grow older, we find ourselves using the same techniques to resolve issues. There other ways of resolving the same issues by communicating and thinking outside the box. In other words, what our parents have taught us to deal with an issue may not always the best option today. How to develop the technique to “think outside the box” is the exercise that everyone can participate.

You’re in better shape than you think!
Room
Salon A,B,C

Description

What kind of shape are you really in? You’re probably in better shape than you think, yet it’s natural to under-estimate our current self-worth or future potential. Past failures, unfulfilled dreams, and missed opportunities often hold us back. Chris Ford will challenge you to take a really good look at yourself, and to accept yourself for who and what you are. Armed with such self-honesty, there’s no limit to what you can reasonably achieve.
